Winnie the Fungal was born beginning in 2023 when Winnie was farming, inoculating grow bags. Winnie thought that creating an online community of mushroom lovers and farmers can follow content about not only growing gourmet, culinary mushrooms, but also fun and other experiences that Winnie has on and off the farmers' markets.
Winnie is a full-time mushroom farmer with Elsinore Mushrooms, growing more than 10 varieties of gourmet, culinary mushrooms. She has a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science & Management and also works part-time for an energy efficiency company. She is also a cooking instructor and educator. In her "free" time, she creates content on social media and aims to pursue other business ventures.
Mushrooms can be feared by some people, but for many others, they love mushrooms. Winnie's mission under Winnie the Fungal is to inspire people to grow, cook, and eat mushrooms as they can be used as a meat replacement, but also learn about the abundance that mushrooms can give if people are open to them. Winnie the Fungal can be that bridge for you as she will grow on you (pun intended).
Winnie creates content from cooking recipes, growing mushrooms in Elsinore Mushrooms farm, and more. She plans to create more content on YouTube channel. Follow Winnie the Fungal for more fun and experiences as a mushroom farmer.
Winnie makes mushroom products at Temecula's Kitchen Fantasy from mushroom soup mixes, lattes, seasoning to tinctures. She is also a cooking instructor for Kitchen Fantasy called Mushroom Café. For future cooking classes, browse below.
Winnie wishes she had learned about mushrooms sooner. To give back, she educates young minds on growing mushrooms at local schools in Temecula Valley. If you would like Winnie to teach students in your school, inquire within.
Winnie has a start-up making earrings under Fungal Jewelry (@fungaljewelry on Instagram) with the mushrooms she grows as well as handmade other designs. She would like to create other mushroom art in the future as well when time allows.
"Growing up, I thought I could be an artist, a chef, or a scientist. When given the opportunity to start a business, I thought to myself that a farmer wasn't what I wanted to do; however, years later, I've now come to realize that mushrooms gave me an amazing opportunity to become all those things I wanted to be and more.
It's a lot of work, but the people who I surround myself with, including my customers who became friends and family, is what keeps me going. What's also rewarding is seeing people's reactions to the mushrooms I grow as well as the food that they create when used as meat alternatives. Hearing their stories about how the mushrooms have changed their lives makes everything that I do worthwhile.
I truly believe the answer to all problems is mushrooms. They are nature's recylers and medicine. It has changed my life in more ways than I can count. I hope to be that change people's lives through mushrooms for the better or at least give them that opportunity and become that bridge to enlighten and inspire others.
Mush <3,
Winnie"
We will not be at the farmers' market today at Murrieta. Check our stories in our social media platforms for the next market. Thank you.
